(Supporting Parents and Children Emotionally)
Our intensive three-day, CPD accredited training course equips frontline workers with the skill, knowledge and resources to facilitate transformational group work with both parents/carers, and children and young people who would benefit from better understanding emotional behaviour and its impact.
"The parent-child connection is the most powerful mental health intervention in the world." (Bessel van der Kolk)

Developed by Sue Penna, the SPACE Toolkits are unique, evidence-based trauma-informed group interventions which support parent/carers and, children and young people to meet the challenges of growing up in an ever-changing stressful world. The programme uses a trauma-approach to educate and inform participants on why children behave the way they do and how, as adults, we can support them.

SPACE Toolkit Overview
The Adult SPACE Toolkit is a 5-week programme of two hourly sessions which educates and informs parents/carers on why children behave the way they do and how, as adults, we can support them using a trauma-informed parenting approach. It is suitable for children and parents using universal care services and specialist services and its aim is to provide an intervention before significant difficulties arise or support parents/carers in acknowledging they may need further help. The Adult SPACE Toolkit is designed to be delivered online or “in the room.” The programme is suitable for individuals and couples and can be run in mixed or single gender groups.
The Children & Young People SPACE Toolkit is a 5-week programme of two hourly sessions which supports the building of knowledge and learning throughout the programme to help children and young people gain a good understanding of the importance of emotional health, wellbeing in relation to themselves, others and their family. The Children & Young People SPACE Toolkit is only suitable to be delivered “in the room.”
