Toolkit Journals

Designed to sit alongside our toolkits and available exclusively to our trained facilitators, Rock Pool journals offer a simple, supportive space for reflection throughout a programme.

Used within groups, they help participants process each session, stay connected to key themes, and build a sense of grounding and progress over time. As a physical resource, they provide something participants can return to — capturing their thoughts, learning and personal journey in one place.

In our recent facilitator survey, the majority of facilitators said they use journals in their groups, with many highlighting that they:

  • Help participants feel valued and invested in the process
  • Keep everything in one place, without the need for multiple handouts
  • Support reflection during and beyond the programme
  • Help participants stay connected to weekly themes

Journals are available for both adult and children and young people’s programmes, and are designed to be accessible, flexible and easy to use in a range of settings.

Pricing starts from £6 (CYP) and £11 (Adult), with a 30% discount available on your first order.

Sue Penna's book The Recovery Toolkit

The Recovery Toolkit Book

If you've left an abusive relationship, and you're still carrying guilt and blaming yourself, then The Recovery Toolkit is the book for you. Written in an easy and accessible style, The Recovery Toolkit will take you on a journey that is part discovery, part guide. The book is based on the successful 12-week group programme of the same name created by author Sue Penna.

It is based on Sue's professional and lived experience, having worked for more than 20 years for the NHS's Mental Health Services. For the last 15 years, Sue has specialised in working with individuals who have experienced domestic abuse. The Recovery Toolkit is crammed with superb observations and suggestions that will help you recognise that you weren't to blame for the abuse you suffered in the first place and that the real you is still there, ready to emerge.
